Our accredited Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training certification is designed to transfer knowledge from a Juran-certified instructor to you, with the result being a completed project and mastery of Lean Six Sigma methodology. You will work side by side with the Juran-certified coach to apply skills learned throughout training to an enterprise-wide improvement project.

Completion of a Lean Six Sigma project.

The program begins with self-paced learning to give you a basic understanding of what needs to be learned, and is then augmented with live instructor-led webinars with a certified Juran instructor to reinforce learning points and give you that onsite collaboration experience.

Throughout training and after, candidates work 1-on-1 in a mentorship program with their Juran Certified Coach to deliver a completed project for their organization. This project will yield at least $250,000 for the organization and prove our program’s value within 3-6 months from the beginning of training.

Participants have the option of taking the LSS Black Belt course with or without certification. Those who opt for certification will receive a Black Belt certificate upon completion of:

One improvement project, as approved by Juran instructor
Three-hour online exam (score of 70% required to pass)
Eight hours of project coaching
A two-hour oral project review with a Juran Certifier
Final project storyboard report

Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training course.

How can I pay for Black Belt training?

We usually prefer that you pay for Black Belt training with a credit card. However, if you would like to be invoiced, please reach out to mmuller@juran.com. We also allow for flexible payment schedules, where required.

Do I need Minitab? Can I use Excel instead?

Minitab is not a hard requirement for our programs, but it is highly recommended for Black Belt and Upgrade to Black Belt. The instructor will reference and showcase many statistical tools and concepts using Minitab and it will therefore make your certification journey much easier in comparison to using Microsoft Excel.

What salary can you earn as an LSS Black Belt?

According to Salary.com, the average salary in the United States for somebody with Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification is $119,600 (as of March 26, 2020). The range typically falls between $102,600 and $128,800, and can be affected by a number of factors including education, skills and certifications, and number of years worked in a chosen industry or profession.

Does a candidate need to complete all of the belt levels in sequence?

No they do not. However, a candidate should fit a belt-specific profile and meet the explicit nomination criteria for that belt. They should also possess the knowledge, skills and experience that are required to be successful at the specific belt. Generally, candidates can start with Yellow, Green or Black Belt training, and can discontinue training at any belt level.

What is the difference between LSS Green Belt and Black Belt?

Green Belts typically have less of a leadership role than Black Belts, hence why the latter tend to demand a higher salary than the former. In general, project teams will comprise a number of Green and Yellow Belt professionals who will be responsible for actioning improvements under the guidance of a certified Black Belt.

A Green Belt’s understanding of Lean Six Sigma methodologies won’t be as advanced, but they will still possess the necessary knowledge to solve quality problems and perform analysis using the relevant tools. Black Belts, on the other hand, will have a thorough understanding of Lean Six Sigma and an ability to lead successful improvement projects.
