In the current economic downturn, a lot of organizations are doing more with less. Fewer people. Less money. Same ambitious goals. Businesses have been slow to hire because of the higher productivity of the people they’ve retained.

If you’ve seen your organization’s strategic plan, you have a good idea what its goals are and some ideas about how you can help achieve them. At the same time, you’re probably busy enough not to be looking for more work. So how do you make your job more interesting and your role in the organization more valuable without burning yourself out with the effort?

Section 4.2 of the Baldrige criteria ask applicants how their organization manages and grows its knowledge assets and learns. The processes behind the assurance of quality and availability of data, information, software, and hardware needed by the workforce, suppliers, partners, collaborators, and, of course, customers, are outlined. Applicants are expected to describe how they acquire their data, how they know it’s good data, and how they use it. In Dr. Joseph M. Juran’s 2004 book, Architect of Quality, he describes the birth of Statistical Quality Control at AT&T’s Hawthorne plant and puts a new perspective on the ripple effect that innovative thinking can have.

Benchmark with Juran to take your Procurement Department to a center stage position within your organization.

Juran is pleased to announce the launch of its 2013 Procurement Benchmarking Program. With over 20 years of experience in Benchmarking, we are in a unique position to enable you to improve the performance of your organization’s procurement processes.

This will be a cross–industry program, focusing entirely on the procurement function.

The precise scope of the benchmarking will be determined by the participating companies at project commencement but it is envisaged that the focus will be the strategic deployment, operational efficiency and effectiveness, and the culture of your organization’s procurement function. The project will focus on key performance indicators (KPIs) to be determined by the participants. Both transactional and strategic performance metrics are proposed.

Benchmarking your company’s procurement activities against others will allow you to understand your strengths and weaknesses, and close the gaps in your procurement performance, leading to higher ROI, improved procurement strategies, and more efficient and effective procurement processes.

Please note: At this early stage there are no costs or commitment involved in participating at the kick off meeting. If this Invitation is outside the scope of your role, we kindly ask you to forward this opportunity to a suitable recipient within Procurement.

Farm Aid started in 1985 with the help of Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Dave Matthews. The organization has raised missions of dollars to keep family farmers on their land and has promoted a culture shift in the country towards the appreciate of food grown by family farmers rather than corporations.

On April 24, An Evening with Farm Aid was held at Haven’s Kitchen in Manhattan to raise awareness of Farm Aid’s mission, which was highlighted in Billboard magazine. Joe DeFeo, Juran President and CEO, was a co-chair for this event for the second year in a row. Joe was referring to his first encounter with Farm Aid and was quoted, “We went there for the music and became part of the cause.”
