Juran Institute has conducted benchmarking programs in the Oil and Gas Industry since 1995 and now is able to benchmark facilities throughout the entire hydrocarbons value chain. Our experience extends to platforms, marine terminals, pipelines, processing terminals, refineries, tank storage facilities, marine terminals, petrochemical plants, liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants and gas transportation grids.

Juran provides both internal (within the same organization) and external (competitive) benchmarking programs.

Our well proven methodology enables comparative analysis of performance, even between disparate facility types, through the application of our normalization process using complexity factors. The findings from our benchmarking programs form a key input to many of our clients’ long term planning process, enabling them to improve performance year on year.

Using Juran’s metrics models, we have also been able to provide clients with a range of forecasts and estimates for operating costs including:

1.

Estimates of required manning levels for both planned and existing assets.

2.

OPEX forecasts for assets prior to construction and commissioning (e.g. pipelines, terminals, refineries).

3.

Expenditure estimates for specific functions (e.g. maintenance, HSE) across assets/businesses.

4.

Synergy & due diligence assessments for mergers and acquisitions. Juran will calculate the Complexity Factor of the target company. Based on this Complexity Factor Juran will indicate what the "industry average" performance should be for a facility of this complexity. The acquirer can now assess, by comparing this estimate to the real performance, what the post acquisition upward improvement potential will be.
